One cannot claim they trully know the people of Maramures until one sees them celebrating a major Holiday in their village’s church. How they gather together – children, youngesters and elderly – all proudly wearing their best and most beautiful outfits. How each of them feels and lives the service in such a genuine and unique way. How they bring their children, the “coconi”, for the Eucharist. And then, how they humbly tempt you with their best and most delicious food and local drinks, and keep inviting you until you give it a try, or two… or three.
